PLFEST 2026 Inspires Movement Towards a More Human, Purpose-Led Future of Leadership

Over 100 leaders came together at the Progressive Leadership Fest 2026 to explore what it truly means to lead in a changing world. The conversations were bold and energising, but something even more powerful happened. Attendees did not just talk about change. They committed to it, making a pledge about how they intend to lead differently from this moment forward.

When we brought those pledges together, four clear themes rose to the surface. They reveal a leadership movement that is becoming more human, more intentional and more courageous.

People First: A Commitment to Wellbeing

The strongest theme centred on putting people at the heart of leadership. Attendees spoke about wellbeing, psychological safety and the need to reduce burnout. These were not abstract aspirations. They were commitments to create healthier, calmer and more supportive workplaces.

“We succeed when our people are well, not just productive.”

This shift shows a growing understanding that sustainable performance comes from supported humans, not constant pressure. Leaders pledged to protect boundaries, normalise conversations about mental health and build cultures where wellbeing is a shared responsibility.

Human Leadership: Leading With Openness, Not Armour

Another powerful theme was the rise of leadership grounded in authenticity. Attendees committed to showing up with honesty, vulnerability and a willingness to connect on a human level.

“Leadership is about connection, not control.”

This reflects a move away from rigid, top down styles. Leaders pledged to listen more deeply, share more openly and build trust through transparency. People follow leaders they can relate to, not leaders who hide behind titles.

Purpose Over Profit: Leading With Values

Many pledges focused on values led decision making. Leaders expressed a desire to consider social impact, environmental responsibility and community benefit as core measures of success.

“Success is measured by impact, not just income.”

This theme highlighted a growing expectation that organisations must contribute to something meaningful. Profit still matters, but it is no longer the only story. Leaders want to create change that lasts.

Inclusive Cultures: Belonging as a Leadership Practice

The final theme was a strong commitment to inclusion as an everyday behaviour. Leaders pledged to amplify underrepresented voices, support neurodiversity and create environments where everyone feels they belong.

“Inclusion isn’t an initiative. It is how we operate.”

A shift that recognises that inclusion is not a programme but a practice that requires consistency, curiosity and courage.

What These Themes Tell Us About Leadership in 2026

Together, these themes reveal a leadership landscape that is transforming in meaningful ways.

  • Leadership is becoming more relational than hierarchical.
  • Wellbeing is becoming a strategic priority.
  • Purpose is becoming a measure of success.
  • Inclusion is becoming a non negotiable expectation.

PLFEST 2026 did not simply bring people together to share ideas or inspiration. It created the spark for real action. The festival brought forward leaders who are ready to turn intention into behaviour and conversation into change. If these commitments are any indication, the future of leadership will be more human, more inclusive and more values driven than ever before.
