Joe Martoccia Joins the Manufacturers Alliance

I was born less than 100 yards away from the World-renowned John Taylor and Son Bell Foundry in Loughborough. As a child, I walked to and from school passing the foundry and always found myself peering through the open doors, fascinated in watching the men working on casting the many iconic bells they produced which were exported Worldwide. I am sure this is where my passion for British manufacturing became ingrained in me.

I have spent most of my working life in manufacturing in senior leadership roles serving a variety of companies from small enterprises to PLCs, specialising in construction products, home improvement products and engineering.

In early 2020, I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in life. I approached my treatment and focused on overcoming the illness with the same vigour and literally, never-say-die attitude with which I tackle my business challenges. Only ever one result – to win.

I decided to put all my energy into the healing process and after some serious consideration, I came to the conclusion that I should sell my interest in the engineering/manufacturing business I was running. The decision paid off; after lengthy treatment and major surgery, scans and tests have shown the cancer has been completely irradicated. Of course, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the marvellous oncologists, surgeons and care staff who looked after me during a very difficult time for the NHS.

Now well into recovery, I am ready to begin the next chapter of my career working with the Manufacturers’ Alliance.

I have a passion to share my knowledge and experience in supporting driven, enthusiastic businesses leaders achieve their goals. Throughout my career I have gained significant experience in developing winning commercial plans, helping my teams to deploy killer strategies, which ultimately always kept our companies driving forward and always focused on the end game.

Away from my business life, I enjoy keeping fit, I play some golf, love motorcycling and pretty much watch all sport. I have a real passion for cooking, taught by my wonderful mother, I can knock-up quick, simple dishes from whatever is lying around in the fridge but can also push myself to produce fine cuisine which I love to enjoy with friends and family.

I am proud dad to two wonderfully rounded, solid citizens, Victoria and Ricardo.
