The Manufacturers Alliance members have spent 1 day each month for the past year learning, sharing knowledge and helping each other solve business issues. This has ultimately lead to each member becoming more personally effective. Having reached the 1 year milestone with them, we decided to ask for feedback on their experience with the Manufacturers Alliance so far. These have been the key highlights shared...
“Setting stretch goals for myself.” Having the support of other members and the chairmen provides a good platform for setting some challenging goals, really pushing your comfort zone and boundaries. Nowhere to hide when you’ve shared your goals with the group.
“Support network of likeminded people who also want to achieve.” One thing all members have in common is that they all want to achieve something, usually something pretty big, so you’re in good company if you’re growing your business.
“Becoming a better MD.” Whether you are new to a role or been at it for 20-30 years our members are all on a personal mission... to be the best they can be. The chairmen and fellow members will support your growth and keep you motivated to do better each month.
“Somewhere to learn new skills in a fun environment.” Part of the member contract is being a learner and the best way to learn is with a smile on your face. All the members are good at fun!
“More confident in myself and decision making.” Not being 100% confident is something we don’t all share, especially with our colleagues in the workplace. The Manufacturers Alliance is a safe place to boost your confidence and become a more effective leader.
“Somewhere to share my knowledge and experience with others.” As a collective our members have in excess of 200 years experience. When they share knowledge and experience it’s time to listen.
“Seeing problems in a completely different light.” Everyone knows the saying “a problem shared is a problem halved” but sharing with a group of experienced manufacturing leaders each month has huge benefits. Having so many other perspectives provides an opportunity to see issues from all angles and you’re not just stuck in your own thinking.
“How to put a structure to solving problems.” Seeing and experiencing how other manufacturing leaders solve problems has enhanced all members problem solving skills. Having one method will not suffice for all situations, so the more methodologies the better.
“Getting to the root cause and solving business issues.” The collective experience of the group means the members are challenging each other month by month. Having your thinking challenged is a powerful part of being a member and provides a better scope for getting to the root cause of issues.
“Wider network of contacts to help us grow.” As well as having a wealth of experience the Manufacturers Alliance members are well connected. Whether you are looking for customers or suppliers in manufacturing they are always happy to support.
“Learning new ways to access various types of funding.” Banks are not the only source of funding in the UK and the majority of our members are using at least 2-3 other sources to fund their growth. Whether it’s a loan, investment or grant funding you are looking for, our members have the contacts.
“Providing the catalyst for change.” You sometimes get stuck in a rut and not know where to turn next when there are a range of problems in your business. You know you need to change but feel you have run out of options. The chairmen and members will provide the catalyst and support you throughout your journey.
“New skills and methodologies to share with my team.” The wider business benefit is taking the knowledge from the Manufacturers Alliance meetings and sharing this with your own teams. The workshops are always designed as a knowledge transfer session to ensure you have something tangible to take back and use in your business.
It has been a privilege to share the experience with such a fantastic group of manufacturing ambassadors. The contributions we have made to each other, the members, their organisations and the manufacturing community can only help to drive the growth of the sector.
Please get in touch if you would like to join as a member and we will do our best as a group to make your journey a success.
