The first hour was open networking over a light breakfast and the hosts (C & C Baseline and Ian Lucas Security Shutters, Wigan) premises was full of energy and enthusiasm. Not bad for an 8.00am start!
The feedback on what the newly formed group expect as members was open and honest at the start of the day. They want to develop personally, become better leaders, be less stressed, find new experiences and collaborate to help to help each other succeed. Confidentiality is hugely important to the group and ..... they want to have FUN. I’m sure we can manage that .....
Eirian Baker from XCL International (www.xclinternational.com) facilitated the first part of the day with a very interactive workshop ‘Leadership and the Art of Delegation’. Not a PowerPoint slide in sight! Right! Everyone off their backsides ..... we’re doing stuff today! Members worked in teams to identify the main barriers/benefits to delegation and their own intervention style. Comfort zones challenged and a few aha moments later it was time for lunch. Every member gave Eirian really positive feedback and found the experiential style of learning very productive. Great start to the day.
The afternoon the group split into two groups, one chaired by Steve Dobson, the other Phil Brown. Time to work together and help each other solve problems. Both Steve and Phil have a really gentle style, which enabled the groups to talk comfortably about their issues and work with the team to reach solutions. An emotional start for the group, lots of trust in the room and relationships starting to form.
Gary Sheader, Chairman of the Manufacturers Alliance closed the day by saying, “thank you all for making the day such a special occasion. The members of the group have been selected based on their values and that is why we have such an amazingly supportive environment. This is the beginning of a new way of working together in manufacturing, which will lead to personal and profitable growth.”
